Horse - Greyhound Betting Rules

General Rules for Racing Bets

  • Bets are closed once the bell indicating the start of the race has rung. Any bets erroneously accepted by desk personnel after the race has begun will be deemed void and cancelled in full.
  • If the selected runner is replaced, and the runner’s name is specified on the ticket, the bet will be voided and refunded. However, if only the runner’s number is indicated, the bet remains valid. Jockey changes or changes in the starting position of the runner do not affect bet settlement.
  • Any objections related to racing bets must be submitted within 48 hours after the official race result has been announced. Objections submitted after this period will not be considered.
  • Once placed, racing bets cannot be cancelled under any circumstances.
  • If one or more runners withdraw or fall during the race, this does not affect the validity of the bets. As long as at least one of the starters officially finishes the race, all bets will be settled. If none of the runners finish the race, all relevant bets will be voided and refunded.
  • If the customer places a bet using the term "favorite" instead of specifying a particular runner name or number, the bet remains valid. If there are multiple favorites at race start, the stake will be divided equally among them. "Favorite" bets do not carry fixed odds; only the Starting Price (SP) will apply. If odds are mistakenly recorded on such a bet and overlooked by the desk personnel, the specified odds will be disregarded, and the SP will be used for settlement.
  • No Race (NORACE): If a horse or greyhound race is declared as “NORACE” and is not rerun, all bets on that race will be refunded. If the race is rerun later the same day, all bets placed will be settled based on the odds available at the new scheduled start time.
  • If a race is marked with terms such as “BETTING SUSPENDED” or “THESE PRICES ARE FOR GUIDANCE ONLY,” the odds will be displayed in purple and not offered to customers. No bets will be accepted until updated odds are published. In greyhound races, if a runner is withdrawn, all published odds become void and bets will be settled based on the latest Starting Price (SP). In horse races, if a runner is withdrawn, Rule 4 deductions will apply.
  • If an incorrect price is offered to the customer due to a technical or human error, the bet will not be voided; however, it will be settled at the Starting Price (SP).
  • The maximum payout for racing bets is €15,000.
  • If multiple races occur in the same time slot, the evaluation of the customer’s bet will be based on the runner name, number, time, and race location—respectively. If a runner name is specified and appears in only one race, the bet will be settled on that race. If the name is not present in any race during that time slot, the system will check for a match in a later, still unstarted race. If a match is found, the bet will be redirected accordingly. If the name is not provided, the runner number is used. If the time and location are also stated, and the number matches a runner in that race, the bet is valid. If the number does not correspond to any runner during that time slot, the bet will be voided. If no race location is specified and the number appears in multiple races at the same time, the bet will be assigned to the relevant race if odds are specified; otherwise, it will be applied to the earliest starting race. If neither name nor number is provided, but race time and location are specified, the bet will be settled on the race favorite. Bets with ambiguous or unmatched information according to the criteria above will be voided.
  • In both horse and greyhound races, unless there is an official objection following the result announcement, the published results will be used to settle bets. If there is an official objection regarding the results, all bets on the relevant race will be put on hold. Settlement will be made after the authorities complete their review and issue a final decision.
  • Bets are settled based on the odds or prices confirmed at the time of bet placement. However, if no odds were selected or requested by the customer for horse or greyhound races, the bet will be automatically settled using the Starting Price (SP).
  • In single bets, if neither the runner name nor number is specified on the ticket, the bet will automatically be assigned to the favorite of the relevant race.

Racing Bet Types and Application Rules

Single Bet
Description:
A Single bet is placed on a single runner or team in one event. The bet wins only if the selected runner or team finishes first. The entire stake is dependent on the success of that one selection.
Rule:
•
If the selected horse or greyhound does not participate in the race, the stake is refunded.

Double (D/B) Bet
Description:
A Double bet involves two selections in two different races. The winnings from the first selection are used as the stake for the second. Both selections must win for the bet to be successful.
Rule:
•
If one of the selections becomes a non-runner, the bet will be settled as a Single on the remaining runner at the given odds.
• Example: If a Double includes runners A and B and A becomes a non-runner, the bet becomes a Single on B. If B wins, the bet wins. If B loses, the bet loses.
• If both runners are non-runners, the bet is void and the stake is refunded.

• Example: If A, B, and C are selected and C is a non-runner, the bet becomes a Double on A and B.

Accumulator Bet
Description:
An Accumulator combines four or more selections into one bet. All selections must win. Winnings from each leg roll over to the next. Also known as 4-fold, 5-fold, etc.

Forecast (FC) – Dual Forecast Bet

A Forecast (abbreviated as FC) is a type of bet where the player predicts which two participants will finish 1st and 2nd in the exact order in a race.

Subtypes:

  • Straight Forecast (FC): Requires the selected two runners to finish 1st and 2nd in the exact order.
  • Reverse Forecast (RFC): The selected two runners must finish 1st and 2nd in any order.
  • Combination Forecast (CFC): Three or more runners are selected, and any two of them must finish 1st and 2nd in any order to win.

Rules:

  • For Forecast bets to be valid, there must be at least three (3) runners in the race. If the number drops below this, all forecast bets are void and stakes are refunded. If one or more runners fail to finish due to withdrawal, fall, or other reasons during the race, bets remain valid as long as at least one runner finishes the race.
  • In Straight Forecast (SFC) and Reverse Forecast (RFC) bets, if any of the selected runners becomes a non-runner, the bet is void and the stake is refunded.
  • In Combination Forecast (CFC) bets, only combinations including the non-runner are voided. The stake is partially refunded for these combinations, while the remaining valid combinations are settled accordingly.

Tricast (TC / CTC) – Treble Forecast Bet

A Tricast (abbreviated as TC or CTC) is a more advanced form of Forecast bet, where the player must predict the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers in exact order.

Subtypes:

  • Straight Tricast (TC): Requires three specific runners to finish 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in exact order.
  • Combination Tricast (CTC): At least three runners are selected, and any combination of three from these must finish in the top three in any order.

Rules:

  • Tricast bets are only valid in greyhound races with at least 6 starters, and in horse racing handicaps where at least 8 runners are declared and 6 or more actually start.
  • In non-handicap horse races, Tricast odds are not offered, and Tricast bets are not accepted.
  • If the number of runners drops below the required minimum, or if no official Tricast dividend is declared:
    • Straight Tricast (STC) bets will be settled as Straight Forecast (SFC) (excluding the 3rd selection).
    • Combination Tricast (CTC) bets will be settled as Combination Forecast (CFC) based on valid combinations only.
  • In STC bets, if the 3rd runner becomes a non-runner, the bet is settled as SFC. If one or both of the remaining runners become non-runners, the bet is void and refunded.

Each Way (EW) – Win + Place Bet

Each Way is a combination bet consisting of two parts: a Win bet and a Place bet. The total stake is split equally (e.g. ₺10 EW = ₺10 Win + ₺10 Place = ₺20 total).

  • If the selected runner wins, both Win and Place parts pay out.
  • If the runner only places, only the Place part pays out at reduced odds.

Bet Validity:

  • Win and Each Way bets are only valid if there are at least 2 runners.
  • If only 2 runners start (due to withdrawals), only Starting Price (SP) bets are valid. Fixed odds are voided and bets are settled at SP.

Tattersalls Rule 4(C)

Rule 4 deductions apply when a declared runner is withdrawn after the final declarations. The odds of remaining runners must be adjusted due to the change in winning probability.

  • Rule 4 deductions apply after the final declaration, usually 24–48 hours before the race.
  • The lower the odds of the withdrawn runner, the higher the deduction.
  • Deductions apply only to winnings, not to the original stake.
  • Maximum total deduction is 90%, even if multiple runners are withdrawn.

Dead Heat (D/H)

A Dead Heat occurs when two or more runners cannot be separated even by photo-finish and are declared to have finished in the same position.

  • Winnings are divided by the number of runners tied.
  • Example:
    • If two runners finish 1st in a Dead Heat, winnings are halved.
    • If three runners tie, winnings are divided by three.

Starting Price (SP)

Starting Price is the final odds declared at the off time (when the race starts). Bets placed at SP do not receive a fixed price — the current odds at race start are applied for settlement.

Non-Runner

If a horse or greyhound does not start the race, it is declared a Non-Runner, and all bets on that runner are void and refunded.

  • If the race has already started and a runner refuses to race or does not participate, it is considered a runner, and bets are not refunded.

Placepot

Placepot is a pool betting format where the goal is to predict a placed runner in each of the first six (or last six) races of a race card.

  • In horse racing, only the first six races apply.
  • In greyhound racing, both first six and last six races may apply.
  • Players may select one or more runners per race for combinations.
  • A bet is valid only if at least one selected runner is placed in each race.
  • Winnings are distributed proportionally from the total pool among successful entries.

Rule:

  • If a selected runner becomes a non-runner, and a reserve runner is declared, the bet continues on the reserve.
  • If no reserve is available, the favorite will be substituted. If more than one favorite exists, the one with the lowest racecard number is used.

Void Bet

A Void Bet is one that is cancelled due to rules or race outcome.

Reasons:

  • Non-runner (in single bets)
  • Incorrectly offered bet types
  • Race cancellation
  • If no runners finish the race

In all void bet cases, stakes are fully refunded.

Rules to Apply in Case of Missing or Incorrect Information on the Betting Slip

  • The customer is responsible for clearly and completely specifying on the betting slip the race time, the venue where the race takes place, the name or number of the runner, and the preferred bet type (e.g., Win, Each Way, Forecast, etc.). If any of these details are missing or illegible, the interpretation of the slip is entirely at the discretion of the staff settling the bet, and winnings will be calculated accordingly.
  • If the runner's name on the slip is correct, the bet will be assigned to the race of that runner. Other information on the slip is disregarded. If the named runner does not participate in any race, the bet will be refunded. If there is no runner name on the slip, the evaluation will be made based on the runner number. If there is a runner with that number at the specified race time, the bet is valid; otherwise, it will be refunded. Bets with only a runner number and no specified race time will be assigned to the first live race starting. If a runner with the specified number participates in that race, the bet is valid; otherwise, it will be refunded. If none of race time, runner name, or runner number is written on the slip, the bet is refunded. If only the race time is specified but no runner name or number is given, the bet will be assigned to the favorite runner in that race.
  • The customer must clearly write the bet type on the betting slip (e.g., Double, Treble, Accumulator, Patent, Yankee, Lucky 15, etc.). If the bet type is missing, the total stake will be divided equally among the number of bets for settlement. For sequential bets (e.g., FC, TC, CTC, etc.), if the customer writes the bet type directly without separators like “X” or “+” between runners (e.g., “CTC” or “FC”), the bets are accepted as valid and settled according to the declared bet type. If the bet type is not specified for sequential bets, two-runner bets (e.g., 2x3) will be accepted as SFC (Straight Forecast), and three-runner bets (e.g., 3x4x5) will be accepted as STC (Straight Tricast).
  • If the same runner is written multiple times on the betting slip, only the last occurrence is considered valid; previous duplicates are ignored. In this case, the bet will be converted to the closest valid bet type based on the written order. For example, a TC bet written as "3x2x3" will have the last repeated “3” canceled and be treated as "3x2" and settled as SFC (Straight Forecast). If "3x2x3" was played as CTC (Combination Tricast), the bet will be treated as CFC (Combination Forecast), and incorrect combinations will be refunded. For SFC or RFC bets, if the same runner appears twice, the bets will be considered invalid.
  • If the customer enters four different selections in a sequential bet without specifying any bet type (e.g., 2x3x4x5), the slip will be treated as a default CFC (Combination Forecast/Tricast).
  • If a customer selects three runners in a sequential bet in the format “2x3x5” but writes “FC” (First Combination) or “RFC” (Reversed First Combination) on the slip, this bet does not comply with the standard and will be treated as CFC (Combination Forecast). In such cases, the bettor’s actual intent will be taken into account during settlement.
  • If a customer selects only two runners (e.g., “2x3”) but writes “CFC,” “CTC,” or “STC” on the slip, this bet does not comply with the standard and will be treated as SFC (Straight Forecast).
  • If the runner name and runner number on the slip differ, the bet evaluation will be based on the runner name.
  • If the customer specifies a total stake amount on the slip that is either insufficient (understake) or excessive (overstake), the following rules apply:
    • In case of understake, the winnings are calculated proportionally based on the actual amount staked compared to the required total stake.
      Formula:
Winning Amount × (Actual Total Stake / Required Total Stake)
Payment is made according to this ratio.
    • In case of overstake, the amount exceeding the required total stake is refunded to the customer.
    • If multiple selections are made but some have no stake explicitly stated, these selections remain valid and all bets are settled based on the total stake indicated.
